Hi everybody!
Marcella Chester posted the 13th Carnival Against Sexual Violence last night at her blog Abyss 2 Hope.
Included is my awareness blog entry about the situation in the Congo, which is posted at my anti-violence blog Blessed Fearscapes!
Welcome to my new blog! I’ve wanted a place of my own, a soapbox if you will, that would allow me to share the world around me, the world inside my head, etc.
Who am I, you ask?
Well, I’m a young woman of 25. I live in the Central Valley of California. It has it’s merits, but unfortunately, we are blanketed with poverty.
My heritage is Mexican/Native American/Caucasian, an interesting amalgamut of a handful of Central Valley cultures.
I am a Christian, a church goer. I belong to a nondenominational Charismatic church. I just finished taking a Religious Studies course, and it was so cool becoming more aware of other religions.
I am working on my Associates in Sociology and Anthropology at Bakersfield College. The idea is to transfer to Cal State Bakersfield and begin a Bachelors in Sociology with a minor in Women’s Studies, then my Masters in Social Work, etc. so that I can help communities, help people.
I am committed to anti-violence activism. I work very hard at it, get very involved in many projects, always looking for ways to fight child abuse, rape, domestic violence, and gang violence.
I am a rabid lover of books and music. My favorite band is Megadeth!
I write poetry, and I’m actually apparently not bad at it! I do that, and I grew up doing local theater. Photography is great too.
I maintain an anti-violence blog, Blessed Fearscapes; a survivor site, As Waters Passing By, a personal MySpace, and an activist MySpace. You’re welcome to hit any of these links!
